1885-S Liberty Head Double Eagle : A Collector’s Guide.

The 1885-S Liberty Head Double Eagle ($20 gold coin) is a San Francisco Mint issue from the long-running Liberty Head series (1850–1907)

While not considered a key date, it is still a desirable coin due to its gold content and historical significance.

Obverse: Features Lady Liberty’s left-facing profile, designed by James B. Longacre, with a coronet inscribed "LIBERTY" and surrounded by 13 stars.

Reverse: Displays a heraldic bald eagle holding arrows and an olive branch, with a shield on its chest and “IN GOD WE TRUST” above.

Good for collectors of early Lincoln Cents, especially in high grades or Red (RD) condition

Look for even color and minimal wear if purchasing higher-grade examples.

Fairly common in lower circulated grades, but scarce in Mint State (MS) condition

Struck during the Great Depression, adding historical significance.
